Okay, So It Really Wasn't THAT Bad...

Ignoring the fact that when we arrived in Allie's classroom, there were already 6 (yes 6!) pink Disney Princess backpacks on the floor, it really wasn't that bad. Mommy concedes - the backpack, shoes, lunch box, even thermos were...cute. And although I didn't know it before hand, it appears the DP backpack was essential to fitting in with her peers. Ahhh, Allie's very first "L.A. Gears" ;) (Amy, tell me you get this refference)

Tacky "Princess Wear"

This could probably go without saying, but I hate clothing with plastic Disney Princess emblems. I similarly despise shoes, backpacks, and lunch boxes of the same genre.

Allie starts school tomorrow. She has a wardrobe of adorable, sophisticated clothing from Oldnavy, Gymboree, even Walmart in stripes, polka dots, solids etc...

Mommy doesn't always get to make the decisions anymore. Allie will be wearing princess shoes (oh, oh yeah, the tackiest ones we could find!). She will be carrying a princess "pack-pack". She will be toting a Tinker Bell lunch bag and sipping from a matching thermos. She will likely be thinking "princessy" thoughts and dreaming "princessy" dreams tonight:

Just Bubby-ling Up

These days are filled with mommy just trying to get a few things done in between Buddy's FEEDING FRENZIES! And he has the thighs to prove it...He has nearly outgrown his 3-6 month wardrobe already (90% of which still bear their tags!). At 2 months, he weighs in at nearly 14 pounds and 24 inches. That's the 90th percentile for hieght and weight - a stark contrast to my little bird (Allie) three years ago!

Since I'm providing the fuel for all of his weight gain, it seams only fair that I should loose a pound for each one he gains right?!! Different blog subject altogether...

Besta please notice - he's growing so fast, he's already out of the little baseball jumper you bought him. So I quickly put it on him during that five minute period he wasn't to chunky, and snapped some pictures...

It's not a camera trick, he gets chubbier in each picture! This one was taken yesterday. Look at those cheekies!

Jump and Shout

We always try to have a family fun day on these Monday federal holidays (last Labor Day it was a homemade slip-n-slide in the back yard). So this Labor Day, although mommy is still a little worse for viral wear, we took a family trip to Jump Zone for Allie. Allie starts one day a week of playschool on Wednesday, and has been sharing her time and parents for 10 weeks now; It was a good day to spend some special time just for her.

So Happy Together

Yesterday marked four weeks for little brother. So we dusted off the old barnyard playmat and had his very first playtime. Until now he's been largely asleep or otherwise inactive. But he's really starting to wakeup more the last few days... And he already enjoys his big sissy
Allie is as sweet and sharing as she can be. She gives "little bubby" lots of affection and tries to calm him when he's waiting for mommy. Allie has really proven to be not only an awesome big sister - but an awesome, sweet little girl!!
And I am as blessed as anyone can be!

Introducing the Newest Rockstar...

Here he is - mommy's raven haired, seriously contemplative, future rockstar. He's preparing for his career as a musician / social commentator by crying and/or complaining whenever awake. He has a firm hold on the concept of getting what he wants... immediately

He's my beautiful little guy

The Spanking Cha-Cha

Use this approach sometime and see what happens with yours. We've all seen it - that quick little footwork (think River Dance) that comes right before a massive fit pitching! Well, we don't relish correction in this household, but sometimes you gotta do what gots ta' be done. Tonight Allie started into a little dancy-looking episode at bedtime, and out of nowhere came the advent of the "Spanking Cha-Cha". At first I just laughed at her silly behavior and asked Allie if she was doing a spanking dance (like a rain dance). An then the first chorus just flowed...

To the tune of La Couca Racha (spell that for me)

I need a spanking
Give me a spanking
That's why I do the spanking cha-cha

You gotta a spanking
I want a spaking
That's why I sing the spanking song
cha cha cha

It sounds mean spirited, but it was actually a good natured way of reminding Allie that nothing good would come of a bedtime fit. She giggled and danced conga-style with daddy and myself all the way upstairs, and even begged for an encore performance before lights out.

Happy 3rd Birthday

It doesn't take much to define a party for Allie (she just doesn't know about Chuck-E-Cheese yet!) All it takes is a day of decorating with mommy and spaghetti, cake, and gifts with mimi and poppy to make this party girl happy. It was small but no less a celebration. Allie chose Mickey Mouse as her theme du jour and had a modest array of gifts (modest for the likes of Suri Cruise that is)

Getting ready for the event, all dressed up in her 3T's

Almost ready to cut the BLUE (per Allie's request)

And what does the blue icing do to your mouth Allie?

Pappa John and The Talking Fetus

No pictures of late, but a couple bits of humor from the near three year old.

1. Allison is a picky eater (this is a kind way of putting it). However, we learned this week that she will eat almost anything if we are obliged to sprinkle it with "Pappa John". Most of the world knows this cheese/ condiment as Parmesian. But we think her mispronunciation may be linked to her appreciation of Mr. Mayer, the pop singer.

2. Allie is excited about the arrival of a baby brother or sister. She talks into my belly as if it were the clown face at "Whataburger". But she really topped herself this week when she yelled into my abdomen, "Hey baby, this is Allie. I love you. NOW, say something to me!" You just can't beat that!

Tomorrow we will celebrate Allie's big 0-3. Pictures and annecdotes to follow
